The Day The Carpet Died

I did something bold this weekend. Bold and what some might say, brash... or maybe stupid. I purchased a puppy. A tiny Chihuahua (pronounced: Chi-who-ah-who-ah) I've been sort of muling over the idea of getting a dog for some time but I know what happens with puppies. They are cute and cuddly and full of energy and they chew on everything. They also poop and pee wherever they are when the force is with them. I usually don't have too much trouble housebreaking a dog but this dog is so tiny and it is so cold outside that I can't stand going outside in my bare feet because the temperature of the concrete is somewhere around the same temperature it is on Saturn. It is damned cold here in sunny California... This makes it hard on both me and the Chi-who-ah-who-ah when it comes to the house breaking ritual. I am now thinking seriously about paper training her. I wouldn't want to paper train a hulking St. Bernard but the Chi-who-ah-who-ah's poops are about the size of a cigarette butt and it's bladder holds about a thimble and a half of dog urine. I chose a small dog for several reasons.. Among them; we have a very small backyard and I don't like kenneling my dogs when we travel. This dog will fit in a small dog-carry-bag making it easy to tote her along with us and our backyard seems like acreage to her. I also don't mind picking up the cigarette butts and dabbing up the thimble-sized urine "mistakes" nearly as much as I would mind cleaning up after a Dog the size of a pony. She is so darned adorable I can't express it...
The down side of having a dog this itsy-bitsy? We are terrified that one of us will step on her.

Itsy bitsies are great, and your baby is very cute.

I'm the retriever type, but travel - oy vay!
